The World Is a Dangerous Place

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

I went to class last night and as I was driving there, the light came on to signal low tire pressure. So, on the way home I stopped at the corner gas station to get air. Self-serve, of course.

The pair machine is to the side of the lot and not not well-lit. They recently installed a bottled water shelf next to the air, and a handicapped parking place in front of the water. After putting air in the passenger side, I was coming around the car to do the driver's side and fell over the berm at the front of the handicapped place. Ow! Fell full out on both knees into some spilled water.
I really didn't see the berm in the dark--it's painted blue like the stripes and doesn't contrast with the asphalt. Maybe third time is a charm. I've got to stop falling down or I'll be in the handicapped parking! I wasn't hurt badly: just bruised and slightly skinned knees and one hand. Next time I'll try to find a full-serve station for this.

I tripped over a very small berm between a driveway and alley last spring while going around some empty garbage cans at a good pace. Hoppled for days. Feeling for your poor knees : ( Hope the class was great!

I too have noticed that they seem to make the air more inaccessible than ever. I always make sure to go in the day time. Hope you heal quickly!

    ugg...that sounds painful
I hope it's out of your system now.
And I agree about reporting it to the gas station. If it was my shop I would want to know right away so no one else gets injured.

Oh no! I hope you're okay - and yes, let the station know that this is a problem!

OUCH! But lucky it was only skinned knees and bruises -- it's easy to get a break from something like this.
