Thanks for the review! I've been curious about both, and I had no idea you got a bodymedia through the study! That's pretty awesome. As for the tracking... (and I know you have more recent blogs than this).. if it gets to be a huge pain in the ass, I'd probably just track where needed for the study. I, personally, view most of the spark features as supplemental. I think I only tracked my food & exercise on here for like a week. I do it all through the fatsecret.com calorie counter app on my ipad! I freakin' love tracking on my ipad because I can do it while I'm cooking& eating, etc.!
I'm finding accuracy a challenge, too, though. And I don't even have a fitbit or bodymedia! Trying to figure out exactly what you are eating and how much you are burning is a pain! When I started, losing was easy and I didn't even think about precice maths :( I think that the further you progress, the more important precision is for getting the right deficit. So.. .I can definitely understand your frustration!
Dump as much of Spark as you want, but keep your blog for me ;O 2499 days ago
I have been struggling with exactly the same issues. I have a BodyMedia fit and was using it regularly for about 6 months or more and I hit a LOOONG plateau and gave up. I didnt want to pay the monthly Bodymedia site fee any longer. (I am on a tight budget.) So I decided (after gaining 30lbs back) that I needed a new gadget. I have the fitbit zip and have been using and syncing to sparkpeople. I have noticed the same calorie burn inflation. I should be losing weight and I am just not. Its telling me I am exercising at work when I am not. I think the Fitbit system is more for beginners who are not as obsessive as I am? I might go back to using the Bodymedia armband because, lets be realistic, it's brutally honest. I can just use my wrist readout instead of the website. I don't know. I have been referred to my doctor (because I got so upset about my weight gain) to the Geisinger Weight Loss Clinic. It is the largest hospital in Northeastern PA, so hopefully they can get me moving. I really enjoyed hearing someone with the same issues and will keep up with your Vlogs. Also I am sure you will get vastly different numbers between the 2 systems, based on my experience. THANKS! 2499 days ago
This is the one thing that I don't like about my Body Media is the double tracking. So, I decided that I'm just going to track on Sparkpeople. I will only plug my monitor to the computer to download my data. Thanks for the input on the Fitbit, because I was thinking about buying one and comparing the two monitors. I don't have the wrist band for Body Media. 2500 days ago
