Awesome housewarming party!!

Saturday, December 08, 2012

We had a bunch of family over today for a housewarming party to celebrate our pretty new home, and it was lots of fun. I ate waaaaay too much, obviously, but I enjoyed it all and a lot of it was pretty nutritious (okay no, not the multiple pieces of cake and the multiple chocolate cookies and the handfuls of dark chocolate Chex Mix - soooo dangerous, that! - but there were plenty of fruits and veggies and whole grains too).

Plus, we started in the afternoon, so at least the food was kind of a lunch/dinner combo thing. AND I ran for 12.4 miles this morning. So even though my stomach is sticking WAY out right now, and the scale says I ate like 7 pounds of food....I don't really care right now. :)

What does make me a bit anxious is all the leftovers we ended up with....extra cookies and pumpkin muffins and cake went into the freezer so as not to overwhelm me with TOO many sweet treats around, plus we'd never be able to eat it all before it spoiled otherwise. But there's still an apple-pear-persimmon crisp, and more of that chex mix, and frosted cranberries, and some kind of marshmallowy dip that came with the store-bought fruit tray someone brought....

and most of the leftovers were actually packed off with other people, yet we STILL ended up with tons. Parties are so hazardously delicious!

Can you take the high sugar stuff to work or send it to your DH's work? The sugar is so addictive and sings hypnotic songs

    "come eat me my dear,
    you've been good all year
    come eat me my sweet
    you deserve a treat
    come eat me my darlin'
    start t'diet again int' mornin"
