The quickest way to tank daily calories?

If your guess was BEER!!! you'd be right. When I was actively losing weight, I worked really hard to account for/limit my alcohol calories. I usually only have a beer or glass of wine (or 2, or 3
) on the weekends, so Fridays & Sundays I made my longer run days. Things usually worked out okay - I'd go over my calories some days, shave it pretty close on others, but my weekdays were pretty spot-on. Now that I'm in maintenance, I can still fit in an adult libation on a weekend evening, but things get a bit wonky when I start drinking beer on a Thursday night!
DH and I went out to dinner last night, spur of the moment (we don't go out to dinner much at all, maybe once a month), and that first beer went down so smoothly, but was lonely in my tummy and wanted some company...
I had a salad and part of a chicken penne entrée, the rest came home in a box, so that was good, but then a glass of wine to round out the evening sounded pretty good, too. Which led to "I'll just have a couple cookies for a bedtime snack" - Huh, what? There's the problem in a nutshell. It's never just the alcohol calories, it's the loss of judgement that goes along with it, the what-the-hell attitude I take toward all my eating once my inner voice goes off on holiday.
So, I had a run this morning, and I'll need to be careful at lunch and dinner to keep things reined in, and then I'll have tomorrow to practice my self-control some more!
