Before IP came along, I had tried HCG and Atkins. Both of these diet plans I started before starting and finishing nursing school. People are amazed that they lose so much weight on HCG. Of course they do. It’s mostly muscle. I think I did it for a month and lost almost 30 pounds. I felt like garbage, ALL THE TIME! With Atkins, I saw results there but got bored, real fast. I could only have so much summer sausage, cheese and pork grinds before I start losing my will to live. I am kidding of course, but variety is important to a healthy eating plan. Atkins science is quite similar to IP, at least in principle. But the food tastes better on IP. The PROCESS of eating is better in Atkins. Real food tastes better, naturally, because it is loaded with salt, fat and everything else that makes your brain ecstatic. However, this very selfish approach to food intake has driven my body to its limits. Gallbladder gone, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, muscle and joint pain, back problems, shortness of breath…there is only so much your body can do to accommodate bad habits. At some point, it is going to “warn” you with symptoms. Ignoring those initial warning signs will get you killed. So knowing HOW the IP food is effecting my body, how it is being used, makes the taste irrelevant to me. I have experienced taste for years. It’s time to be unselfish and give my body what it craves. Proper nutrition and fuel it can use.
I was warned by my coach that constipation is common on this protocol. I think she may have been confused. There is constipation and there is no daily bowel movement. Constipation is having stool present and the urge to go, but nothing can come out. It has had all the water drained out of it and is slowly turning to “stone.” What I have had, as awesome as it is to read I am sure, is less bowel movements. My body is using almost everything that goes in…because it can. There are no wasteful products going in. There is nothing uncomfortable about it really. I don’t see the need to cleanse anything. There is nothing in there, at least not that would be causing true constipation. Is there really a way to become dehydrated to the point where your body pulls the water out of the stool while drinking 3 liters of water a day? Physically, no. Not to mention to fiber in the vegetables. I haven’t had any bloating or difficulties yet. I am curious to hear about the people that do.
We are starting our corporate Biggest Loser Challenge next month. I have zero doubt our team will win. My weight loss is guaranteed. More importantly, I hope that my weight loss, regardless of the vehicle that got me there, is inspiring to others to get healthy. On the flip side, I hope people DO ask me how I did it. I hope it does spread like wild fire and we have a serious sustainable health kick happen. I hope the employees get on board, so much so that corporate pays attention and begin to really help people lose weight and get healthy. I hope they can supplement the cost for those who are interested. Maybe we can start a pilot program for a handful of people and go from there. Something would be nice. We need to invest in those who cannot afford to invest in themselves. This is a potential generational change. I firmly believe it saves lives. I know already it is saving mine.
