Back in the saddle...

After a hiatus, I have decided to work on health and fitness again. Many times there has been a surge of energy and excitement for me around exercising and eating well but then it fizzles. :(

This time, I put my money where my mouth is and joined the Y, and hired a trainer for myself. This already amounts to a lifestyle change for my whole family of six, as we spend many evenings there now, plus I go in the afternoon for personal work.

I feel really happy after exercising. I'm not sure why I've resisted it for so long. Having a trainer sure does help in the motivation department, and he has built a very strong case for strength exercises and afterburn and a pumped up metabolism.

Dieting is a component I still have to tackle, this part I like less than the exercise. But I will see better results if I pair my activity with healthy eating, so I plan to work that too.

Until I see measurable results, the happy I get from working out is enough of a reward to keep me going. I'm a little concerned about heart health, and am curious to see how my bum shoulder improves as I strengthen all the muscles around it.
