Helpful tip...maybe

Thursday, December 06, 2012

so I apparently am a binge eater. I eat food really fast with a fervor that is almost unequaled. I get something in my head and then there is nothing that is going to stop me from eating that exact item. I am reading a book about cognitive changes and how they relate to weight loss. I found one tip in there that is interesting and that I am going to use. Write down 5 reasons why you want to lose weight on a flash card and stick it in your pocket. When you are then at the office or wherever and tempted to eat outside of your regiment (maybe someone brought in doughnuts etc.) pull out the card. Read over the 5 reasons and think about how that item will set you back in your goals. Chances are the small reminder to yourself that you want the weight loss more than the temporary pleasure will be enough for you to walk away (or in my case run away).

I don't know if this will work, but heck, its worth a try. and I'll take all the help I can get...Good Hunting

another one i like with any obsessive and/or compulsive behavior is: distract yourself for 15 minutes. tell yourself that you can do the activity, but you have to do something else for 15 minutes. you can look at the clock or whatever to see when the time is up, but it's a way of delaying that activity. by the time that 15 minutes is up, you will be doing something else and no longer focusing on the bad activity.
