Who Knew????

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I have been trying to find a variety of things to cook for dinner. I always try to make healthy, balanced meals and I have been running out of ideas. Tired of the same-ole same-old. Dad is staying with us and he diabetic so I want to make sure he is eating properly, so I asked him what kinds of foods he likes to eat and his response was "I'm not picky", well that sure was a big help, lol. I went to the market yesterday on my lunch hour and couldn't decide what to purchase for dinner so I bought a couple of things. I was set to make us breakfast for dinner but dad sent me a text and said "HE" was cooking dinner. What????? Dad cook?????

I must say I was wondering all afternoon what kind of disaster I would come home and find and if "his" cooking was going to be edible. Well get a load of this.....

Stuffed peppers and not the Stouffer's frozen ones either. WOW, totally from scratch and he had even set the table. I was floored. Who knew Dad was a chef???? Not me, can't wait until the next time he surprises us with dinner. Thanks dad for giving me a night off in the kitchen, please feel free to repeat as necessary :)

Gearing up for the big Surf-N-Santa 10-mile race on Saturday, this will be the first official 10-mile race so I'm guaranteed a PR, lol. Looking forward to the festive atmosphere and getting "my run on".

Happy day Sparkies, make it count. Love to all.

What a great story about your dad, lucky you! I love surprises like that! What else did he serve besides asparagus? It ALL looks so yummy!!

Congratulations and best of luck on your race! I'm a dreamer, still, a non-runner who can't walk to the car without running out of breath. God help me! I'm really proud of you for your accomplishments! You continue to inspire me!

    Keep sparkling!

Wow.. that's pretty awesome. I'm pretty sure if my dad got in the kitchen to cook, we would be having rice. That's about it... just rice. LOL

What a great Dad! Some of us geezers have hidden talents.

I once shocked DW by making an apple pie from scratch. My own crust, real apples, etc. My grandmother and mother used to make them from scratch, and I knew how - just hadn't ever done it since I was young. Don't get any ideas that your Dad will be cooking again soon though Lisa, we do stuff like this once (just to show off) and then never again. LOL.

You've already done HMs without having done 10Ms? What's next - your first 10K?!

PS: Love the story about your dad. Think I saw that as an X Files episode. :-)
