Searching for something that "sticks"

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

So I joined Weight Watchers online, I made lists of everything I'm going to do, planned my meals, scheduled in my workouts, took pics of my healthy meals, blogged, asked friends for support, bought home workouts, cleaned out my refrigerator, inventoried the pantry & committed to walk 40 min a day.

How'd that go?

I'm in trouble. I am at my highest weight ever.

I'm all plans & promises. I know what needs to be done & I'm a great cheerleader when there's someone else to cheer on, but for my own health & follow-through - nada!

What is wrong with me? When/how will I ever be fed up with being fat, lazy & in pain? I'm well educated on everything I need to lose it, I just can't seem to get myself sparked to follow through with my goals. I am so tired of this roller coaster & I am at my wits end with myself.

Where do I go from here? How do I inspire or push myself when nobody inspires or pushes me? Can anybody relate? What did you do to "just do it"?

I feel like I wrote this blog while I was reading it. I am in the same place as you. I was doing so great and then, bam, got out of the routine and started gaining again. I step on the scale every morning, and cringe. So, why haven't I revamped? Don't know. I'm right there with you. Let me know when you figure it out and I"ll do the same!!

I agree with Bulldog ~ walking at as brisk a pace as you can, ditch the sugar (every teaspoon you eliminate each day is a great start), use a luncheon or salad plate for all your meals......one more thing, don't skip meals and be sure to schedule a snack or two like fruit or something healthy. My husband just suffered a stroke and a bout of life-threatening high blood pressure. Am using the reduced plate size and scheduling snacks for him and it's getting results already! Keep at it........every little bit helps!

I had only gained weight with pregnancy until 2010 - 2011. During that year I gained weight because of me and my poor choices. It wasn't until I went to visit old friends and had a body shot taken of me that I realized how huge I had become. Those pictures motivated me. I would say take some photos and post them on your fridge. If that doesn't motivate you then keep visiting this site. There are plenty of people on here who will encourage you and work with you. emoticon emoticon

my sister lost 105 pounds at age 63 by walking 15000 steps a day.

i lost 44 pounds by giving up grain products and sugary products at age 60.

i use a salad plate as a dinner plate; i eat with a childs fork. takes your brain 20 minutes to tell your stomach your full. it works.
