Walking tales (tails)... and a dr's appt

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

The day started out beautiful. Warm enough for shirt sleeves, sunny, and breezy. Walked with Cooper and the small herd of teenage girls I now wrangle on Tuesday mornings (homeschoolers). No moaning about how far we were walking and plenty of laughter. By midday it was cloudy and cooling off. I had a doctor's appointment at 1pm today (more on that later), and by the time I left it was raining. Ran my errands in the rain, and unloaded everything from the truck in the still vaguely warm rain. Got the groceries and supplies put away, played with the dog for a little while and had an early supper, then left to pick up my dad on campus expecting to get another 2 miles of walking in. I pull up out front of the building, wait for my dad, let him take the driver's seat and walk the pooch home from campus. Well, Cooper had other ideas. First he refused to get out of the truck. He's not stupid. Not going out in that increasingly cold rain. Nuh-uh, nohow! I pried him out, and we set off toward home. I made the executive decision at that point to take the shortest route home, as Cooper was stopping to hide under bushes, and in pedestrian tunnels. Once he got going he was a speedy puppy. All he wanted was to get home and out of the by now freezing rain. Happy puppy was bouncing off the walls, and the recliner, and the bed by the time we made it home!

As for the doctor... he was very pleased with the weight I have lost since I saw him last. Even though I weighed in a little heavier today than my scale reads at home, I have to take into account I was wearing clothes and had eaten and gulped down 4 glasses of water. These things affect weight. But best of all was when I went to get my blood work done. The phlebotomist was positively effusive about how good I am looking and how much weight I have lost. It was so heartening to have someone (other than family) getting excited about the changes I have undergone in the last year and a half. Yay me!
