My Name is Rana and I’m a Team Challenger Loser!

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

For the last two months I have been sitting steady at the same weight. Plus side, I’m not gaining weight but negative side, I’m not losing any either. After this last November challenge, I have realized I need to be honest with myself and say I know why now. I haven’t hit 1000 fitness minutes a month like normal nor have I restricted my “cheat meal” days either. EXCUSES BE GONE!

Last month I decided to join Sparking as a Team and do their November challenge to try and get my arse back on track. Needless to say it was a major fail for me but an eye opening experience! I know I had a leg injury that I was out of commission on the running for a while but that doesn’t give me any excuses NOT to build up fitness minutes. I did get pretty close even with injury. For me 1000 minutes was a piece of cake all year, why the change now!

November Challenge Results:
1. Get at least 1000 fitness minutes in for the month (810/1000)
2. Run a total of 40 miles for the month (22/40)
1. Cooking nightly during the week (Sun-Thurs) (19/21)
2. Limit only one cheat meal a week (4++/4)
1. Take an hour out a day and spend it one on one with my daughter doing anything; going for a walk, working out, games, talking, cooking, etc. (12/20)
2. Be the first to say good morning to my husband (21/30)

On a positive note, being a loser woke me up to realize I need to REALLY get on the stick and back in action BAD! It’s getting to the point of falling back in the FAT GIRL habits and I am NOT going back there after all the hard work I have put into this past year losing 30lbs!

I needed some motivation to start getting back into gear with my fitness. So what gal doesn’t get all warm and fuzzy inside when she buys a new pair of shoes or outfit? I did BOTH! I needed some cold weather running gear for my upcoming 15k race next month, so I got myself a pair of black super thick and warm running pants SIZE MEDIUM! First pair of medium bottoms EVER! LOVE IT! Of course I had to get a matching fleece top to go with it. You know the cool ones with the holes for your thumbs so your hands stay warm? Never bought one of those before and I just love the lime green and black look it has. AGAIN A MEDIUM! YES!

Ok the shopping doesn’t stop there! I have been searching and searching for months to find a replacement running shoe identical to my current love of my Saucony running shoes but to no avail. Understand my running shoes and I are LOVERS! This “man” has carried me across my first 10k, half marathon and tons of various 5k for years! Never a blister, always supporting my ankles, never an injury unless someone clipped me! It was a while back that I noticed the pinky toe on my left shoe had a blow out that made me realize, I need to find replacements. I looked and looked for my loves replacement and Sunday I found them! My new Saucony’s! I have to say, running in them last night, felt like I was cheating on my lover! Felt different and new but not so great cause you haven’t been acquainted long enough to have a great understand of each other. You still wonder if they will slip up make a mistake and hurt you. It was honestly the most bizarre running experience EVER! LOL

Here is a pic of my new Saucony’s. Can’t call them my lovers YET! Gotta have the dating period for a while before I commit! HA

With my new running shoes comes a new month! In December I have two goals to accomplish this month. In January I will be heading to Atlanta to run my first 15k (9.3 Miles) doing the Hot Chocolate Race and need to get in shape for the distance. With the accomplishment of completing this training, I hope to reach my second goal, completing 1000+ minutes for the month of December!

Hot Chocolate 15k Training Schedule:
Week Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
Sat Totals
1 rest 3 rest 6 rest 3 6 18 mi total
2 rest 2 rest 3 rest 4 4 13 mi total
3 rest 3 rest 3 rest 4 6 16 mi total
4 rest 3 rest 4 2 5 5 19 mi total
5 rest 4 rest 4 rest 6 3 17 mi total
6 rest 5 rest 6 rest rest 9.
3 20.3 mi total

I completed training day one running 3 miles last night and it was a rough run! Not just because of my new kicks but because I was just exhausted trying to tackle a manic Monday and get 3 miles in. But I did it! Made no excuses and just GOT ER DUN! WOOT!

Have a great successful December Sparkers!

So November didn't go well; now we're in December! A new opportunity to get it done!

Oh my god, those shoes are beautiful! As a fellow runner, I get it. Once a runner falls for a shoe, we tend to get obsessed with it. The perfect shoe is magic; and you literally spend hours and hours every week in them. They end up forming to your feet, to become the most comfortable shoe ever. So sad when they finally have to be replaced!

Congrats on being a MEDIUM now!

I am so excited for you! I want to do that race now (ever since I saw your post on it!) but I'm hoping I can find someone to do it with me!

I fell off the wagon too in November, but unlike you, I have still not jumped back on! Are you doing the December challenge with Sparking as a Team?
