Bad Jordan, Bad!

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

I woke up this morning and was off to a terrible start. With only 5 minutes to get ready to go to work due to carpooling, I literally jumped out of bed, ran to brush my teeth, somewhat brushed my hair and headed out the door. I was literally buttoning my shirt and putting on my shoes as my carpool pulled up to the house. Don't worry folks I will get my shower in at the gym during lunch.

While I was brushing my teeth I looked in the mirror. The one thing that I don't like doing is looking in the mirror. However, this time seemed different. For the first time I was able to see the changes that have happened to my body over the past few months and I said to myself, "I'm really doing this. Everything that I pictured in my mind is going to plan." The dieting, the eating, working out, all is working. I felt really good going into work.

I put my lunch in my little fridge in the office. Oh by the way, if you haven't tried the Pizza Bake on the SP Recipes website, you need to. It was awesome and really was able to fill in that desire for actual pizza. Anyway I then started to go for my usual muffin and then realized that I did not have it. What to do.

Wait here is a good idea Jordan after feeling so good about what you have been doing, lets drive to Dunkin Donuts and get a couple, you deserve it....BAD JORDAN, BAD! Where is that person to slap my hand or to spray water on my face like I'm a new puppy. Two donuts down, means two extra miles to run in my book. I try to allow myself 1-2 sweets a week, not counting my usual desert of graham crackers, peanut butter and milk. Well I hope the week goes by fast because my sweet tooth is now gone.

I say all of this to say that even though we make slip-ups or mistakes, it is best to overcome them quickly instead of worrying about it and giving up. A lot of the quotes that I post come from the Navy SEALS. These are a group of men who during adversity have to quickly overcome and continue the fight. While there is no way that I will ever be able to work out like them, I believe they provide some of the best motivation quotes out there.

Thanks Everyone and God Bless

Your trip to work sounds like Dagwood! :)

I think we need to "slip up" once in a while. It helps us to re-evaluate our motivation and also gives us the opportunity to notice how junk food makes our body feel after eating well on a regular basis.

And here is a dessert you can try that is a totally guilt free indulgence - check out the nutrition info! Don't be skeptical of the ingredients, I tried it and it really tastes just like real chocolate pudding. (skip the crust if it seems like too much work)

Yes, we all have those little binges. But we don't have to throw in the towel.
"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary." (Gal. 6:9) We'll reap the reward of good health as we cultivate the fruit of self-control! love in Christ, Shel
