Lunch out today

Monday, December 03, 2012

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I am still fighting the fatigue.

The first Monday of every month is when I get together with some friends that I use to work with for lunch. We have been doing this since I had to quit working, (if you don't regularly read my blog, it was because of health issues related to cancer). It hasn't always been on that same day, but a couple of months ago we all decided it would be easier to plan if we just made it the same day each month and the same place.

Anyway, back to my story. I was very tempted to not go today, because I was so tired. When the chemo fatigue gets bad, even getting myself ready to go out feels like it takes a lot of effort. But I pushed on and got myself ready, and prayed that I would get through it. Once I got there, and we all got to talking, I ended up really enjoying myself. I actually forgot about how tired I was for a couple of hours, and those two hours went by fast.

Tomorrow I have chemo again, and I'll find out where my hemoglobin level is at. If it's too low, they will schedule me for a blood transfusion.

I'm hoping by Friday I will be feeling better; it's our church's annual ladies Christmas party. I went last year and it was a lot of fun. I am also hoping I won't be too tired to put my desert I am bringing together; found a recipe for an "Apple Pie Cake"; as long as I have the energy to peel and slice the apples the rest of the recipe sounds pretty easy. I am glad that I already bought my gift for the gift exchange and the children's toys when I was in a Walmart a few weeks ago. Every year, they ask us to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy and a girl, and they are donated to a charity. This year they will be going to the local battered women's shelter for the children that are there with their mothers.

Hi Shari, don't feel bad about writing you are still battling with fatigue...I understand that situation of not seeing pain or fatigue improve. You did well to get to your lunch and I am glad you enjoyed yourself! I hope all goes okay with the chemo and your haemoglobin levels. Take care - sending hugs your way.
