Week 3 - Goal Recap

1. Track Food - um.....yeah, not so much. I made 2 recipes yesterday that are already entered and so this week is off to a much better start!

2. Strength 2x/week - Did ok here - cycle & abs on Monday and Total Body Conditioning on Wednesday. I did really well in cycle & abs on Monday - definitely improving, however the Total Body Conditioning class was very, very hard and I was very, very, very sore the next 2 days - sore enough where I had to rearrange my run schedule. As I am actively Half Marathon training now, this was no good. This week I will try and monitor my effort better and move to modifications if necessary - I need the strength workout, but I need to be functional as well. I am going to give it a month - if this continues to affect my running plan, then I will look for another strength workout until I am fit enough for the classes.

3. Run 3x/week - Done! I did an interval workout on the treadmill on Tuesday that went pretty well. I started off too conservatively, so my intervals got progressively faster, but I know better where to start for next time. My 2nd run was supposed to be a hill workout done on the treadmill Thursday, but due to insane soreness, that did not happen. It was moved to outside Saturday instead, and my long run was done on Sunday. The long run was a bit weird - I really sucked the first 2 miles but picked it up for miles 3-5 - it might have been my fasted 5K time to date.

4. Putter - Puttering took a hit this weekend due to the crazy soreness that left me not feeling too well on Friday, so I got some Christmas shopping done instead. Typically, you can't get me into a mall between Thanksgiving and January 15th, but I am actually glad we went. Mid-day Friday the mall wasn't that bad and we found a great gift for my mother-in-law. After that, I slogged through our Christmas cards. On Sunday, I made a big breakfast and then did my run. After my run, I hung in the kitchen until Andrew needed my help to hang the new microwave (finally!). Most of it was a 1 man job, but I didn't want to give him an opportunity to not do it since I knew he was not looking forward to it, so I hung around. There was some lifting involved to get the new microwave up there, and then I had to hold the thing in place while it was anchored, so it wasn't completely inactive time, but it wasn't the same as puttering. After that, I had to hurry to get food together for the workweek and by the time that was done, it was too late for anything but getting ready for bed.

I am probably going to blow off my class tonight at the gym, but I might try and do the 108 Yoga program Core DVD to make up for it - less intense workout to give myself some more time to recover. I definitely felt the subway stairs more than usual this morning and I am tired.
