Weekend Update 2012-12-02
Sunday, December 02, 2012
This weekend's been okay in terms of work accomplished, though it needs some serious editing. It feels like I'm just jumbling things together without much sense; finding it hard to fit in a point or two that are important, but don't fit with the paragraph structure that I have. I need to finish writing up the results and discussion, then do a full edit.
I ended up going slightly over calories & over my fat zone yesterday due to making guacamole with baked multigrain grounds for snack/dinner last night. It was filling though and I did not eat anything after that, nor drink my last pint of craft beer because of it.
Yesterday I checked out the city's tea festival. I'd won two free tickets to check it out from a local foodie blog that I follow. I think I tried ~30 teas in all. It was wonderful since I'm trying to learn what I do and do not like about tea. So far I've confirmed that I generally hate green tea because it tastes like I'm eating my lawn, though I did find one from David's tea that was drinkable. I found a lovely candy cane tea and some decent teas, but I didn't buy any since we still have a bunch that I'm trying to use up here. Instead I bought my dad an x-mas gifts - an ornament (ball-like) handmade out of chocolate and decorated with edible paint. Inside it are even more handmade chocolates! A bonus to the tea festival was that I had to walk ~25min each way at a brisk pace, so I got a little cardio in. I also stopped & got another x-mas gift taken care of.
Today's been alright other than overeating at lunch. It was all good food, but I overestimated what I would need. I had a small bowl of chicken chili and a small ham sandwich on a dinner roll with cucumber & onion. I find I'm still having trouble judging how much food is a good amount for me because I used to eat so much at once. My stomach's either gotten better at telling me when it's too much or I've gotten better at noticing. I've been trying to adjust, but I guess I'm still not there yet.
I'll be having a small, late supper, mainly veggies, because G-Man & I are going to walk 20min to a local brewpub and have our favourite beer. We both think it's the best beer we've ever had and it's only available around the holidays from this local chain of brewpubs (Clocktower). I would've pushed it off in order to make it a reward for both of us finishing our work, but he invited one of his good friends that we haven't seen in awhile & he's leaving for the month as of tomorrow. Now, the trick will be staying strong and only getting one beer while I'm out. Yay for cheap pint day!
