So a few days ago I calculated how many calories it would take to maintain my current weight. I figured out with the calories I had eaten and the workout calories I had burned, I should have gained about half a pound. Since today is my weigh in day, I redid the calculations and I should have gained about 1/3 of a pound. Instead I lost 0.9 pounds. I used the calories from my Philips DirectLife activity monitor and that indicated I should have lost about half a pound.

The important thing is now I know how many calories to eat and burn to lose weight. If I do the same thing next week, I should see a loss again. I realize there are probably other things that will affect my weight, like salt and stress, that I may not be able to track as well. I will keep tracking, because this is fun. I like running the numbers and seeing how close they come to what I see on the scale.
