Better Than I Used To Be

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Anyone who knows me will tell you that music plays a HUGE HUGE part in my life. Any moment in my life whether happy or sad I can relate to a song or album. I love everything from Country to Rap. Rock and Roll to Oldies. My music collection is quite extensive. By far and away my favorite singer is Billy Joel. I LOVE him. However, the song I am thinking of today is by Tim McGraw (Sammy Kershaw also did a version). It's called "Better Than I Used To Be" it is an AWESOME song. The main line in the chorus is, "I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I use to be". I find this song to be very motivating while reminding me to remember where I've come from but also look to the future for all the promise it holds. My best is definitely yet to come. I am going to continue to work very hard EVERY day to accomplish my goals and be the BEST me i can be. (I really hope that doesn't sound completely corny and hokey!) well, I could continue writing about music but this entry would be never-ending! Lol!

Oh I hear ya! I am the biggest nerd when it comes to music! I have a different playlist for every mood Im in, happy, sad, mad, determined, tired, you name it! There is never a time in my day where there isnt music playing, and when I happen to find one I just randomly bust out in song on my own (My friends call it my "musical turrets" lol)

" I’ve got this theory, there are two kinds of people in the world. There are lyric people and music people. You know, the lyrics people tend to be analytical, all about the meaning of the song. They’re the ones you see with the CD insert out like 5 minutes after buying it, pouring over the lyrics, interpreting the hell out of everything. Then there’s the music people. Who could care less for the lyrics as long as its just got a good beat and you could dance to it. I don’t know, sometimes it might be easier to be a music girl and not a lyric girl. But since I’m not, let me just say this. Sometimes things find you when you need them to find you, I believe that. And for me its usually song lyrics.” - Peyton Sawyer

This is by far my most favourite quote ever, as it most definately is music that inspires me, just like you had referenced to in the Tim McGraw song! I believe everyone needs something in life that they are passionate about, or that inspires them... for me thats music! I dont think it sounded hokey that you want to be the best version of you... thats what we are all here for isnt it?!?!!?

BTW... Im a gabber LOL One small comment can turn into a life story... Ill stop rambling now! LOL Have a great Friday!
