I spoke to my chiropractor about establishing Ideal Protein in his practice. It seems like it is an added value, especially for those patients who are overweight and are suffering with joint, back and other chiropractic issues. I feel like it truly is a value that people would appreciate having access to. I know that I would not have picked this physician I am currently seeing had he not had Ideal Protein in his office. That is what I wanted….the protocol. I know I needed to see the doctor, but wanted the diet. The two go hand in hand. The good news was the doctor had actually done the program personally and could attest to the success. To date, his clients that are doing the protocol have lost 30,000 pounds.

I have noticed that my blood sugar is actually stable throughout the day. I was more fascinated with the fact it was lower than ever, but am now intrigued at the consistent values. It prompted me to do a search about the benefits of stable, consistent blood sugar. Read below:

“The combination and balance of a protein and carbohydrate trigger the release of another potent hormone, glucagon. Glucagon, like insulin, maintains a healthy blood sugar balance. However, unlike insulin, glucagon promotes fat burning and mobilization of fat molecules.”

On an elementary level, eat carbohydrates, secrete insulin, lower blood sugar. Excess insulin changes to triglycerides (blood fat), which promotes fat storage, blood sugar gets too low, triggers hunger, eat more starchy carbs. On this protocol, since there are no excessive spikes in glucose due to low carb intake, Glucagon is produced. Glucagon destroys fat particles for energy when your blood sugar gets low as opposed to relying on more carbs…since we disciplined folk are not eating the carbs we used to. This is the science behind the diet….in a very small nutshell.

What I learned in nursing school is that science doesn’t lie. For the most part, our bodies internally are the same. We are meant to run in this state. I can tell you from seeing my blood sugar react. I feel 100% better than I ever have. It gives me the discipline I need for tomorrow, knowing that THIS is what my body requires to function properly.
