Heart to Heart with My Scale

Thursday, November 29, 2012

My scale has made it abundantly clear that I am now going to have to fight, fight, FIGHT!! to lose each and every excess pound. emoticon The numbers are creeping down by the tenth of a lb. Per WEEK. YIKES!

So I took a look at my log and oh yeah, most days were incomplete and many days were missing. emoticon

Yes, I've been hitting my protein and fluid goals. Great job P! Then I added another column for calories and had a real eye opener. The calorie cost each day has been way over 800! Mostly in the 1000 to 1100 range.

(We really need an emoticon that shows me hitting my head on the wall! Insert that here.)

Couple that with my sporadic activities explains why my weight loss has been slow to none each week. Well DUH!!

So now I actively track what goes in my mouth including meds, vitamins and supplements and break out amt, protein, fluid and calories. Seeing it on paper makes me think twice about having something non-calorie vs. caloric. emoticon

Yesterday was Day 1 on new tracking system. More progress repts to follow~~~

I'm a visual person, so I keep my log on paper in one of those composition notebooks. I picked a color that I especially liked so it would be special to me. :)

I leave it open in front of me so I can easily see what's what. Each day I log my weight, time, food/drink, amount, calories (sometimes estimated), protein, fluid, meds, vitamins and supplements as I take them so I don't forget. It sounds like alot of work, but really isn't.

I used to make column lines with a ruler so it would look 'perfect' and write precise words, etc, but then called myself out on that cuz I would then avoid logging cuz it was too much work. Now I just draw lines and use my own shorthand stuff. emoticon

Wow! You are aiming for 800 calories? Suddenly I feel blessed to eat 1,500 a day.
I know what you mean about slacking. When I do REALLY well with the weight loss, I begin to think that I can sneak a treat here and toss in some almonds there and suddenly the scales reflect the 'cheating'.

Good luck with your resolve and your stick-to-it-ivness
