Saying "let's do it again" to yoga

I've been dabbling in yoga for a couple of years. I attended a weekly class that I really enjoyed. My instructor closed things down a couple of months ago and I just stopped. I knew I needed to find another class and wanted one that was more convenient. So....I'm testing this one center close to my home.
I went to a Beginning Yoga class there this AM. There was a part of me that hoped that I would be very strong because, after all, I knew the drill. Gotta say my hopes were dashed. This was a different class, a different instructor of course, and although she kept it pretty simple, it was tough. She did spend a bit more time on positioning and listening to your body but it wasn't an easy class for me.
We spent an hour doing a lot of downward dogs, twists, and planks. My arms were shaking as they held up my body weight. I tried to move with my core "engaged". My arthritic knee wasn't bothered too much but going into "Dancer" - where you grab your foot behind you and stretch while balancing - I was the only one of the newbies who just couldn't hold the balance. Sigh.
But the good thing is I'm back and working on it. Another reality....this will become easier as I lose more weight. Right now my body interferes with poses and the strength work. After all, you're holding and balancing more weight and that's a challenge. But very glad I went back and got started again. Yoga adds a nice dimension to my fitness.
Now to take a couple of ibuprofen - I wasn't even expecting my left arm to get so sore. Kind of forgot that I broke it 12 years ago but it's aching right where that break was. Water, ibuprofen, and a good night's sleep. Sounds like a plan.
