Part of the puzzle...vitamins

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I've been trying to feel better for a long, long time so I read other's recommendations, web-sites and blogs keeping up on the latest information about Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Myofacial Syndrome and osteoarthritis.

For most of the last 5 years I've been taking a multivitamin that has more than 100% of the RDA values, but last week I decided to see how I'd feel if I decreased my multivitamin RDA values to 100% instead of the 200-300% I've been taking.

Well I'm here to say that it hasn't made me feel better. It's not been a whole week and I've been feeling much worse. I told my self for days that I felt worse because of holiday stress, cold weather, eating a bit more sugar or a Fibro-flare, but I am certain that it is because of the vitamin decrease.

There just isn't a one size fits all when it comes to health. When I started having trouble with chronic pain many years ago I read all I could and tried anything with in reason and I'm still doing that today. Science has come a long way in those 25 years, but Chronic pain syndromes are not getting as much research as some other illnesses and I can understand that.

I think most doctors are puzzled and frustrated trying to help and suggest ways for people like me feel better, I know mine is. So, as manager of my own health I must keep reading, listening and trying new and different things to help my self and vitamins are just a small part of that puzzle.

Due to injuries, my Hubby and I both suffer chronic pain. However, we have discovered that "all" pain indicates inflammation. I don't know if trying to do things to reduce inflammation would help you or not, but it may. Hope you find what will help you most!

I sure would like to see more advances made in the field of chronic pain disorders. But as you say, some times we have to take things into our own hands and find what works best for us. I hope you find a balance that serves you well.
