Long Weekend Enjoyed!!

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I have thoroughly enjoyed my long weekend! I made a large pot (I have a 16 quart stock pot) of turkey vegetable soup with some whole wheat pasta in it. One bowl, and I needed a nap - it must have a lot of L-Tryptophan in it!

My house is wonderfully clean - even the gas range is sparkling. But I did manage to get a great deal of rest this weekend, and manage my power walks.

I just loved Florida Sun's blog Saturday - Especially the picture of her and Josh. I had my son when I was 34, so Bobbie Anne, here's one of me at 34:

I've got one of me and James somewhere - I'll scan it and post it when I find it. I can't believe the similarities in our lives - I went through a windshield when I was 18, lost a recording contract, and had to undergo about three years of cosmetic surgery. The emergency room surgeon put 275 stitches in my face that night - Thank goodness he was a cosmetic surgeon that just happened to be on rotation that night!

Anyway, your blog made me think about a lot of things that I'd been through, and reminded me of just how thankful and grateful I am for my life. We have to do what's best for ourselves - we forget that! When don't realize how wrong it is to "give 'til it hurts" because when we've pretty much exhausted ourselves, we're of no use to anyone else. And isn't it amazing just how many selfish, using b***ards there are out there that will use us up and then think we'll take more. Not for me - Not any more!

Well, folks - I've off to make my tea. If I don't get too sleepy, I'll blog some more!

AHA...I knew there was a deep connection to you my spark sista! From the moment I met you...be it online...or in person...it's so interesting that we found each other! I'm trying to remember how...I think I saw you on my darling Eleni's page and thought...hummmm...her comment was interesting. So over to your page I flew...and eureka...look at how much we have in common!

You look beautiful in this picture...as you still do now. I LOVE to see that glimmer in your eyes and I LOVE to hear how you are fixing up your little nest.

I AM continuing to make my low cal soups...and if the hubs doesn't want to eat it...he can feed himself just fine. He's actually a pretty good cook being a firefighter for so many years...he makes the meanest pot of chili around!

Tonight HE actually volunteered to cook. We had ribeyes on the grill. YUM~O!

He marinaded them in dark beer then rubbed them with a deep rub of Bada Gourmet Seasonings Steak Blend...yummy good!

I had made some roasted butternut squash yesterday so we had that with them. I just chopped up the squash and sprinkled with a little pumpkin pie seasoning, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Drizzled a little Agave over them and baked til tender.

I went over my calories today..but at least I got a good hour walk in and I was moving along at a FAST clip.

Tomorrow I'll be extra careful on my calories to make up for today..but I gotta tell you...that steak was to die for...it would have been a $50 dollar meal at one of the expensive steak places...and it was SO much better! emoticon emoticon

You are smart to make up a big pot of turkey soup...then you always have a 'go to' meal and NOTHING is better than a good bowl of heart warming soup!

    Huggers!
