The aftermath of Thanksgiving 2012

Friday, November 23, 2012

It's the day after Thanksgiving 2012, what did I wake up to but sore muscles and not even an ounce of weight gain! I'm so proud with the results, effort and healthy choices that I made this year. I took Rice Krispy Treats, veggie tray and fat free dip, and an ice cream cake that was 1/2 of the sugar of norm. The veggie tray was brought despite being uninvited by the beloved hosting family member of the feast. The tray went over very well and we enjoyed it while the other foods where finishing being prepared for the meal.

This is not said because I stayed within my calorie budget for the day because I didn't but I wasn't to bad off from it. I was thankful for all the family there and plenty of food to eat. What I proud of was not letting going over my calories make me throw in the towel for the day.

I chose to go outside and help out the host buy raking the leaves in her yard. A few got to looking for me because they noticed I had disappeared and came looking for me. I told them I was already stuffed and wanted giving them a helping hand while burning off some of the great food I had. After about thirty minutes there were more members raking leaves and replanting trees!! Then we took a break and started rearranging the hostess kitchen. (Her and her dh had talked about wanting to do it this weekend during the meal.) After we got this done we had a light meal of the leftover food and went back out to finish off the leaves. We were done with them before dark. The next tasked we took on was putting up and decorating the beautiful tree. Our family left them last night feeling tired but happy with all the accomplishments we did together!

We finished the night with a little Christmas shopping and was back home by about 11:30pm. I woke up sore this morning but not sorry for the time well spent with the family for the Thanksgiving of 2012. I'm on my way to success by using my choices more wisely. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was as wonderful as ours!!

What a wonderful day you and your family had! Two years ago we started a new family tradition of serving a variety of fresh fruits and veggies at Thanksgiving dinner. We started off by having a platter of fresh, raw veggies before dinner. For the actual meal we had mashed cauliflower, broccoli, green beans and baked spiced apples. I made 4 types of pumpkin pie in order to accommodate everyone's personal needs. The leftover sugar sweetened pie we sent to the family across the street. The person for whom I made that pie, didn't show up due to another commitment and nobody else wanted it.
