Giving Thanks - Days 19 & 20

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Today I am doubly thankful because I am doubly blessed with two of the sweetest granddaughters a Grammy could ask for.

My little redhead Jaylyn was truly a gift from above. She came into this world at one of the worst times in my life and she helped my heart to heal. The day she was born there was no room in the nursery at first, so I got to hold her for over an hour. As I sat in that OR holding her, looking at that sweet little face, touching those little cheeks, I fell instantly and madly in love. She has always been (and I hope will forever be) Grammy’s girl. She has a truly unique personality. She is kind, tender-hearted, and her laugh is infectious. She can make me smile even on a day when I don’t feel like smiling.

Just when I thought my heart was as full as it could ever be, along came my little munchkin Jazmyn. I held her for the first time, kissed her, and fell madly in love all over again. She also was a gift from above…and a little bit of a surprise to us all. She came into this world in high gear. She goes non-stop and has to explore everything. She is little and loud. She talks all the time, even if we don’t always understand what she is saying. She keeps me in stitches with all the “Jazzy” stories my daughter calls me with. I don’t get to be around her as much as I would like, so I have to spoil her all I can when I am home. I was worried she wouldn’t remember from time to time, but that is not the case. She smiles and comes right to me….and that makes my heart smile.
