I had the privilege of being part of book of devotionals and this is my submission. I believe it is appropriate for this season of Thanksgiving, which should be a season always:

Make a Difference

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

I recently read a story that touched my heart. A little girl was late coming home for supper one evening. When she got home her parents were understandably upset. They questioned her about why she had been so late, they had worried about her! The little girl said, "I stopped to help Marcie; she had a wreck on her bicycle, and it was broken." Her father said, "But you don't know anything about fixing bicycles!" To which the little girl replied, "I know, but I stopped to help her cry."

Jesus calls each of us to make a difference in someone's life, even when we think we are not worthy. Our value is not in what others think or even do, but our value is our being made in God's image. Our value and our strength come through the resurrected Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, I come so that you may have life and have it more abundantly. Can you just hear our Lord and Savior saying to us in a small quiet but powerful voice: 'I kept my promises to you - I died and came back, I suffered through it all for you to have the freedom to now spread the gospel of my father, who is in heaven.'

Take a moment. Breathe in the breath of life. Even in the midst of your current circumstances, remember what God has done for you. Remember how much our Heavenly Father values you. Take those blessings, the power of those blessing and live a life of abundance that will make disciples for the kingdom, leading those in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Most of all, do so in love.

Prayer: Father, I kneel before you and pray that out of your grace that you will strengthen me with power through Your Holy Spirit who resides within me, to walk in such a way, that I go forth and be a catalyst to encourage my sisters and brothers to place their trust in You!
