Anyone See the Movie FAT HEAD??

Well as you know I am eating low carb, which I have found to be a quite a bit too drastic of a cut to 20 grams of carbs a day. I didn't make a weight loss update this week but I did lose 2lbs. I am now 236lbs. I recently watched a movie called FAT HEAD, and it really made me think about how we are supposed to eat. Based on the Dietary guidelines that are put on all products we are supposed to consume 300grams of carbs a day!!!! Does that seem crazy to anyone else? After watching this movie I actually agree with it that fats are needed and that carbs, especially starchy carbs should be limited but then here comes my question. If 300 grams of carbs are too high then how many carbs should we be consuming? Does anyone really know the answer to this question and if you do please enlighten me.

    I follow the SP guidelines and eat between 45-60% of my calories as healthy carbs: apples, flax, whole grains, etc. It has worked quite well for me. The bottom line is total calories, though they should be *healthy* calories.
