Little Hurdles - Little Victories!

Monday, November 19, 2012

Forgive me if this blog is short - I'm really tired tonight. It's a good tired, though!

First, I don't think I told you all about my Saturday night "drama." I'd gotten up from bed to use the bathroom - the last "hurrah!" so to speak before I turned off the TV and and the lights. I don't usually flip the light on in my half-bath. Saturday afternoon was cool and pleasant, so I had some of my windows open. I'd closed them earlier when the temperature dropped, and it was a little chilly. So, I'm sitting there with my pj's around my ankles, when I see something on the floor next to the exterior wall and the vanity. Dog toy? One of my cloth belts that the pups had dropped there? Did I just see it move?!!! I eased on the light, and there, in the corner of my bathroom, moving slowly due to the cold is a small, red rat snake!!! OMG! Startled me so badly and being I was sleepy, that I didn't think to just throw a towel over it and haul it outside. No - I have to yell for my son - I turn around to see where the little *@!#$!! was (the snake, not my son) just in time to see it's tail disappear between the wall and my bathroom vanity!

Now, why do I have the feeling that I'm going to find this thing either in the laundry basket, one of my dresser drawers, or in my bed? Yikes! So far, so good.....

Today, I made a white bean and veggie soup - dried baby lima beans, chicken broth (veggie broth would do if I don't have chicken broth), celery, carrots, onion, and fresh spinach. Turned out really good!

And this evening I figured out how to light the pilot light in my furness! Fire Good!!! The temperature outside is 58 degrees right now, and dropping, but it's a nice 72 in here. Woohoo!!

That's about all I can do for tonight - I've got to finish my tea and get some sleep! Hopefully, without another encounter with the little reptile. And speaking of, if a lizard or snake gets to old to reproduce, does that mean it has ereptile disfunction? Just askin'!

OMG! emoticon Alligators I can handle...but snakes scare the be~jabbers out of me! emoticon When we moved into our house in Pelican Landing many years ago before we had this one built I was taking a nice hot bubble bath and thought I saw something move on the surround of the tub against the wall. I looked closer and it was a CORAL snake...you never saw anyone shoot out of a tub covered in bubbles so FAST!

I yelled bloody murder for my hubs who also freaked...ran back into the kitchen and got a pail and kitchen tongs of all things to snag the little critter...BUT not before he went swimming in the bubbles too. I bet he smelt nice released back into the wild.

It was only the next day that I learned Coral Snakes are deadly poisonous.....holy crap...it could have been the bubble bath that buried me! emoticon

And as to ereptile disfunction...I wish they would develop it..then they couldn't multiply! emoticon emoticon LOVE it! emoticon

So cute. I would not get your house too warm...it will invite the critters in! I do not like snakes either.
