Day 688 hanging in and hanging on

Monday, November 19, 2012

At first I thought can I really say day 688 because I have seriously sucked this year. I pretty much weigh close to the same thing I did last November give or take a few pounds. But then I thought to myself...

"No Michelle, you have had a rough year of heart problems and depression. You have worked hard at least at maintaining (give or take a few) and you deserve to write Day 688. You didn't quit. Every single day when you woke up you tried to make healthy decisions even if you did not succeed at all of them. You are a winner and you will finish this."

We can not beat ourselves up over a little bump in the road. No I did not get where I wanted to this year, but I did not throw in the towel either.

Don't ever give up on yourself because you are definitely worth it :)

Even if you never lose another pound, just maintaining your current loss is something to be VERY proud of. You remain an inspiration to us all.

I'm glad you're here! I think you're doing GREAT. One year of nearly maintaining, I think will help you reset your body's natural set point. Which means you won't so easily ever go back to where you used to be. :-) And that's really darn awesome!

What a great attitude! You completely deserve to write Day 688 - sometimes the journey takes a difficult turn, but you never gave up through it all. Congrats for all of your hard work... it will continue to pay off! emoticon

Maintaining is so hard, yet you've proven you will be able to maintain once you reach your goal. You should take some comfort in that. Even though you don't feel like you've achieved anything this past year, you have the knowledge that you have the skills and track record to not gain it all back. That is a huge deal!

You are ABSOLUTELY 1000% correct! Good for you for looking at the positive! I too had to tell myself the same thing. No I haven't lost anywhere near what you have but I have lost and maintain the loss and made a decision every day to do something positive to keep me on the right path. It's very refreshing to know you feel the same way!

emoticon for having such a great attitude dealing with depression!

Hey Michelle! You have a great attitude, that is truly one of the keys to success! "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference" [Winston Churchill].
I've been reading a great book I'd like to commend to you, The Slight Edge, by Jeff Olson. He gives so many ideas to think about. One is about how changes are submicroscopic, but over time they are hugely transforming. You have choices to make daily, hourly, minute by minute, make good choices consistently and you will see the change you desire. You've decided you want to lose weight, make the commitment to make good choices and you will succeed. You will experience a breakthrough and your momentum will kick in, getting the wheel turning in the right direction is one of the hardest parts. You can do it!

Not gaining weight for a year after a massive loss like you have had is INCREDIBLE! It also shows you have adopted a new healthy lifestyle. Give thanks for your progress to date and expect great things to come if you apply the same good work you did to get this far.

    All the Best,
