Kindle Fire HD Comments & Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 18, 2012

I can't believe how close Thanksgiving is and of course Black Friday! I'm not sure if I will do Black Friday (or Thursday shopping since that is being advertised as happening even earlier this year) yet since my kids are older and it's getting harder and harder to figure out what to get them.

They are both teenagers so toys and games are not what they are interested in. I've been begging them to give me a Christmas list, but so far much of nothing from either one. Not sure why that is, I would have LOVED for my parents to ask me that question. Heck, I would have LOVED to even have Christmas as I didn't get to have it growing up! emoticon

I don't want to waste money and really want to give them what they want, but I want to get it as cheaply as I can, LOL.

I never get anything for Christmas or Mother's Day or even my birthday really so thought that I might get myself a Kindle Fire HD. Anyone have any thoughts on that if they love it or hate it and why?

My daughter has a regular Kindle and she loves it. I've done a little bit of research online and at Amazon, but wasn't sure if I should be going for an I-Pad instead although I can't imagine paying $500 for one. I know they have a mini-IPad, but haven't heard a lot of great things about it.

I'm just relieved I have most of my Thanksgiving items together since it all falls on me for cooking Thanksgiving dinner since we don't visit my family (for obvious reasons, LOL) or my in-laws as they are too far away and my husband usually has to go to work the day after (but not this year, yippee!).

Thanks both of you for your comments and experience.

WishICouldFly - Do you have the big I-Pad? Do you feel it's definitely worth the extra money vs. the Kindle Fire (although I realize you don't have the KF)?

I got the IPad and I really like it, but it IS a lot more than a Kindle Fire. I guess it depends on what you plan to use it for. I use my IPad to surf the web, check in with SparkPeople and sometimes to take pics to post because it is so easy. You just take a pic and then click to email or post to FB.

I like the portability. It is very light and I can keep it with me when I am downstairs hanging out with my rabbits (a lot easier than dragging the laptop down there and then plugging it in somewhere from the ceiling because I keep ALL electrical cords out of reach of the rabbits).

I do not have an IPhone, so it is nice to keep with me whenever I travel because I can look up stuff and SEE it. IPhones are jsut too hard for me to read.

    Good luck choosing!

I have a regular kindle and I LOVE IT!! Looking back, I was debating between a regular kindle and a kindle fire but I decided to go cheaper at the time, but now I wish I had gotten the fire! Going to add it to my birthday wish list!
