Healthy Habits

I have been trying my best to improve my health. One of the things that has been working for me is developing an exercise routine. Every morning when I wake up, I pray and then it's off to the gym. I also sleep in my exercise clothes to make sure I get moving too, but here are some things I've discovered about establishing this healthy routine.

We are naturally creatures of habit, but to develop any habit you must establish a routine. One of the best ways to develop healthy habits is to develop a healthy routine.

A few things to keep in mind when attempting to develop a healthy routine:

•Identify what you really want to accomplish. Many times these things are linked to your fitness goals. So let’s say your goal is to get healthy, one of the steps you might take to get there is to: drink eight glasses of water. The steps or actions you want to take to achieve your goal are going to be the ideas that you place in this list.

•identify the best times to execute the tasks you want to accomplish. If one of your goals is to get healthy, a step you might take is to exercise for 30 minutes a day. So, what would be the best time to do this? Is there a time where nothing will get in the way of your workout?

What are the times when you can be most productive because this is when you might take on your most challenging tasks? When do you tend to be least productive because this is when you will engage in tasks that don't require much thought?

•Create a schedule and stick to it. If you do the same activities over and over at the same time every day it will become a habit. They say it takes 21 days of doing something over and over before it becomes a habit. So if you stick with it, you will have developed a healthy set of habits before you know it.

    Thanks ladies, I was glad to be of help. I felt like I was just rambling in this blog, because it was more so for me to articulate out loud what was going on in my head. Helps me to thoroughly understand what I'm doing. I have found having a routine to be so important though because it has set the stage to make sure that I exercise everyday. Now I am trying to create healthy eating routines. If you have any ideas, I am all ears.

    This is exactly what I have been reading about and working on this week. I have been reading about the importance of routine and having a set routine can help you accomplish your goals. So, even though I didn't really pay attention to it, I realize that I already have a morning and evening routine. I do basically the same things every morning and every night, I just need to fine tune my routines to eliminate the things that aren't helpful and add more things that will help me meet my goals. I claiming this as confirmation that I'm on the right track!
