After a good week, she has suddenly taken a downturn again. She is wheezing and they give her breathing treatmtents and her ankles and legs are very swollen with edema. We are concerned. Also, she cannot stand up or walk. I took our dachshund over to see her today and he loves her. However, he would not go to her at all. He went to her roommate and hugged and kissed her all over but would not go to my MIL. That is strange. Maybe he knows something we don't. Its tough not knowing what to do. Her mind is clear and she knows she doesn't feel well. If we brought her home, how would I lift her?

    I know it's not much consolation, but at least she's where they can care for her, better than you would be able to on your own. You're all in my T&P...

    I am sorry she took a turn for the worst and pray she will find the strength to fight. Some days I am sure are better than others, maybe they over did her physical therapy and she is exhausted. I had days like that when I was in rehab after my fall from a fire engine that left me paralyzed. COPD is so difficult with the lack of oxygen to find the strength to do anything. I had a dear friend with this and Narcolepsy and he fought for his freedom for so long, many years. Once he lost that he gave up and stopped trying to get better! I will continue to keep her in my prayers, may she find the strength to fight for her independence and this slip backwards be temporary! I admire you for your strength and goodness taking her in and caring for her.
