I started tracking my food on 11/5/12 and I joined SparkPeople on 11/13/12. Starting to track my food made me very aware of what I am eating. I've learned I am pretty good at self-regulating my calories, but I only have enough calories to eat dessert if I've worked out. I also learned that when I don't eat breakfast (about twice a week), I come in well under my calories, which is no good!

SparkPeople has given me so much more than food and exercise tracking, though. I find the SparkPoints and the goals to be so helpful. They motivate me to learn new things, get involved, and live a healthy lifestyle. For years I've wanted to be more active. Who knew that all it would take it a row a check boxes to get me to work out for 10 minutes and stretch for 5 minutes? I have some strong aversion to letting those boxes down. Probably because it would mean I failed myself.

I've also bought a pedometer! I should be getting it in the mail soon. I'm so excited for it! As a college student, I walk a lot. I am mostly sedentary, due to classes and working at a computer and doing homework, but I do walk a lot. You have to when your access to food is in a completely different building! I'm very excited to be able to see how much I walk. I'm kinda a nerd about this stuff.

I tend to get very excited about stuff, but then it dies down. This is something I really hope to continue to be excited about. If not, I hope I stay excited until it because a habit. Or at least until after the holidays, because I know I won't hold myself accountable to burn off those cheesy potatoes!
