Moving towards Maintenance

I've done the yoyo weight loss/gain thing for years - fortunately it's the same 15-20 pounds (meaning I never got more than 20 pounds from target weight), unfortunately I'm aging and finding it harder and harder to lose these guys. This time I'm super focused on lifestyle changes that truly will be maintainable for the rest of my life. It has meant slower loss, maybe a half a pound a week instead of one to two,

Yesterday my husband and I decided to run errands and grab a bite while we were out. I feel good that I did not get all stressed out over making either a super healthy choice (and feeling deprived) or a super poor choice ("the heck with it" attitude). I managed to choose something I enjoyed and was relatively healthy (1 slice of New York pizza with olive oil, a small amount of ricotta, fresh tomatoes and herbs). It was delicious and, for pizza, pretty reasonable in the nutrition area. One mini cupcake for dessert. All good.

Even in maintenance I wouldn't have pizza and cupcakes everyday, but not being stressed when I'm eating because I'm choosing from either end of the spectrum makes a lifetime of this type of choice acceptable. What a terrible sentence (grin), I can handle not feeling everyday is about eating from one extreme or the other.
