I'm still streaking...

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Just a quick update. I'm still going along. We last left off with the hike and a half up MF on monday. And the thought of an Ironman. Still like the idea of an Ironman. I know I can't just get up and do one tomorrow.

Tuesday I went for a 7.50 mile run! emoticon It was a little slower at a 11.50 pace
legs are getting tired.

Wed was another hike and a half up MF and back. Not a great hike, but not bad either.

Thursday (today) I had work. So I thought I'd get up early and just go for a quick run. Well the winds have finally shown up! They are LATE this year. It was a beautiful morning. I wasn't dress quite right for the wind and the cool air. So I had to go and change.. The house was warm, the couch was comfy. Ya get the idea. Well I finally said NO I'm at least getting 15 min in. Then in the after noon I'll do another run.

So I added layers and went back out. I did the run in the wind. Let's say one way I was Speedy, the other way I was NOT! Wind is a great resistance work out.

That done I went to work. Well today was a field trip day. A WALK in the woods! So we took the kids for a walk. I think it was about a mile or so of a walk. Got steps in for sure.

After work I came home and found my clothes all laid out on the bed ready for me to just put on. Hmm I think I'll have to do that more often. I put them on and said I'm going to run and see how awesome I am! Just by running in this wind. And so I did!

I got a 3 mile run in. The going was great... the coming back when you are tired.. and now I'm going against the wind! WOW... I did it and I felt as if I did some thing even though it was only a 3 mile run and I didn't break any world records for sure.

My goal for this winter is to not let the elements stop me from being out side. It may slow me down but I will go!!!!

Oh and so you know when I talk about the wind out here. We have sustained winds of 12-15 mph, with gust to 20-25 right now. We call that 'breezy'!

Good job on getting out for exercise. I hear it's supposed to be wet and windy all week. Yuck!

My goal this winter is also not to let the rain, etc. keep me inside. I love being outside - it refreshes me too much to let a little cold and wet stop me.

And running against the wind IS a great workout! Good for you for getting out there!

Way to go on getting out there! Wind is tough to run in, and it's always a balancing act getting the clothes right: warm enough to get started but not too warm after you get moving. I know you can do an Ironman in time, it's just a matter of building up the endurance slowly. WOO HOO for you!
