What This Girl Wants

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

I joined a Sparkteam today: At Goal and Maintaining. One of the topics from February was to list out wants. Making Post-Weight Fantasies a Reality... going after the life that you envisioned for yourself before the weight loss. It's what makes keeping the weight off truly significant. It's living the life that you truly want to live.

Am I doing it? Am I cheating myself out of the happiness that I deserve? Am I expecting too much from myself? Am I not expecting enough of myself?

A list is supposed to help us stay on track. It works at the grocery store. It works on chore day. It works at my job. If I delve further into my brain with this list thing it starts to look an awful lot like goals.

I shy from goals. It's the word, "Goal". It's not for people like me. I don't do goals. I don't know why. Goals are for people who go get 'em. I ease into 'em. Goals are for people who actually take the time and have the talent to achieve them. I have time, limited, but I have more time than money. And my talent is limited. What's that saying? Something, something... master of none? Well, that's me.

I do better with lists. Even though I realize that a list is nothing more than a goal to accomplish something, anything, and whatever needs to be done.

So, here's what I want for my life... with a time limit of 6 months. (tee hee, it's already looking like it's going to be a list of goals)

1. Donate items in clutter area of basement
2. Christmas shop without credit
3. Can I have a raise? Of, like, $2 an hour or more?
4. Maintain goal weight

Ugh, there's that word again "Goal"... but, I did it. It's mine to own. And I love being at goal weight.

5. Have more sex

Yep, you read that right... I said sex.

6. Learn the Love and Logic way to argue with my children
7. Spend more time catching up with family and friends on Facebook

Exactly, more time. I won't promise anything more than the "Like" button but I'll get on there and stay connected, ugh.

8. Be active on the Sparkteam that I just joined

At Goal and Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance

9. After dinner snacks? Only 1 for me, please
10. Sign up for EMT-B course

And there you have it, folks. 10 bullets for 6 months.

What does your list look like? If you agree that a better health profile leads to a better life, then what do you want your life to look like? Honestly, none of us would be here if we didn't agree that better health is synonymous with a better life. So, get busy with your list!

    emoticon list.

I'm not at my goal weight just yet (probably around 15 pounds to go - not sure), but getting fit was actually not the first life change goal I worked toward. I've cleared away the vast majority of nasty financial debt, am writing a novel, and hope to be saving up to take Vet Tech classes next year. I see weight and health as just one small piece of the larger puzzle of a satisfying life.

Love your list. I could go for that $2 raise too! emoticon
