Over the Weekend

The weekend always poses a challenge for me. There is always an invitation to go out to dinner, to come over and have dinner, to come over and hang out. Some how food makes itself into every ocassion. Even church fellowship becomes filled with donuts and cake. But something great happened to me this weekend. I bumped into an old friend who was extremely overweight. I use the word WAS, because she is now 154 pounds lighter. I was floored by how great she looked. When I asked her how did she do it. Her answer was WILL POWER. She said she had a turning point in her life where she realized how big she had gotten and that she no longer wanted to live that way. She went to see a nutritionist and started working hard toward watching what she ate. She told me it took 2 1/2 years, but here she is 154 pounds lighter. She inspired me. She told me if I put my mind to it, I could do it. She suggested I plan a trip or buy an outfit and then hang it up as motivation that I was going to one day fit into that. She said everyday look at that outfit or trip or picture and remind myself that is what I'm working toward. She said she didn't kill herself at the gym and it didn't happen over night. She said it was a consistent conscious effort to make smarter food choices and choosing exercise in every day chores. I left her amazed, intrigued and very motivated. emoticon

    Weekends are always tough for a lot of people. Partially because of all things that involve food, but also because of the lack of structure. I can do very well when everything is prescheduled but it's much harder when I have time off. I'm too tempted to do nothing, just because I can. But I'm glad you got motivated. I know that you can do it. Just take one step at a time and it will happen
