I am very grateful to have my confidence back. It's been very cold and we've had a lot of snow here lately so I missed a run on Friday. Yesterday I headed out for a walk to check on the path where I usually run. It was in very good condition so I decided to start running. I thought I'd hit an icy part sooner or later, but I was able to run around the slippery bits.
When I was about halfway through my run, I heard voices behind me. Great, I thought. Runners. Fast runners. I kept jogging along with my stroller and waited for them to fly past me leaving me eating their dust. Well, they did pass me, I looked right at them instead of avoiding eye contact as I used to do. They said a very warm "Hello!" and one of them nodded his head toward my son in his stroller and looked at me as if to say "you're doing a great job pushing that thing along!"
I am so happy that I feel like I can hold my head high and claim my little space in the world of runners. I can feel confidence seeping in to other areas of my life too. It's an exciting feeling!
