Why should I?

Why should I care whether I'm healthy & fit? What does it matter anyway?
Take a look at a recent post I made as a response to a blog entry from a young woman who made a profound discovery:

The blogger said:
"I look forward to discovering this Tracy (at age 33). Not the self absorbed 20 year old (I used to be), but the one who has learned how to serve others through getting healthy and fit."

Your quote above is exactly it! Why should we be healthy and fit? For ourselves to gloat over, and admire ourselves in the mirror? I beg to differ. Wellbeing & health is not only just for us to enjoy our newfound 4-pack or fitting into skinny jeans; rather to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God in the service of others.

Who can benefit from us being well? Ourselves, yes, of course...My goodness do I enjoy waking up refreshed instead of like a raging lion growling at all who trespass on my territory. My husband and my children have a more pleasant wife & mom to live with as I walk out this daily step-by-step path to health!

Our neighbors may be helped in moving boxes, an energized kind word, help with a project we may have been unable to physically help with before! Our spiritual lives even can soar when we have the energy to get up early in the morning and spend time in the living Word of God before any one else is awake. How could I do that before? Bloated, feeling sick, tired and cranky and fat!

Taking care of my body is a spiritual act of worship.

Each person's body is definitely unique in which way of eating may benefit them in their life. Staying close to foods that God created is a wonderful approach that most anyone would benefit from! In my own life, I have found the Paleo Diet to benefit my own body tremendously. Having issues with wheat & dairy would naturally lend me to a diet like Paleo because it includes none of my offenders.

I also enjoy walking, playing a light game of tennis, biking flat trails :), and exercising to DVD's like pilates, Jillian Michaels 30-day shred, and exercise ball.

What way of eating/exercising has benefited you? emoticon

Take care, and may God continue to lead you into His healing power through Jesus.

I think you are like my soul sister!
Thank you for the comment on my blog (and mention of me on yours)! I am blushing.

I love how you said taking care of our bodies IS an act of worship. This one is going to stick with me. On the days when I'm having a little "mommy guilt" for taking me time to exercise - I will definately recall this statement.

Also, I do not do well with wheat and dairy. I definately feel best when I eat a Paleo style diet too. I'm going to enjoy browsing your blogs for more recipe ideas!
