push ups

Monday, November 05, 2012

last week, i committed to adding regular strength training to my fitness plan. i just completed the one minute push up test. www.sparkpeople.com/reso

i did 27 modified push ups. the last time i tested, i only did ten, so i've improved. i didn't go down to 3" from the floor, but i went down far enough to work those muscles, but good! ouch! it's a start. i'm going to keep working at this until i can get down to three inches from the floor, and do over 30 in a minute....we'll see how long that takes. i'll get some needed upper body strength. emoticon

That is pretty impressive! Some day I want to be able to do that, maybe after I lose 50 more pounds!
Thanks for your comment on my blog, you were very encouraging and reassuring. I still haven't recovered from the sweet binge as I had more sugar tonight, sigh.

Pushups aren't easy. they definitely take practice, but the more you practice, the easier they will get. You might also check out this website. it's the 100 push up challenge. it has great advice for increasing push up strength.

WooHoo for you! Go for it, Girl! I sure wish that I could even try, but not yet anyway, with my RA. My wrists and hands are sooo bad! Have fun along with the work and you'll get better and better!

That's one exercise I can't do since shoulder surgery on both sides. I can do the ones against a wall. Keep up the good work.
