Does it make me a bad person?

Friday, November 02, 2012

Ok so today a couple I know who have been in line for adoption for less than 3 months announced that they "out of the blue" got the opportunity to adopt a baby who was born early but healthy on Halloween of course they accepted and now are the proud parents to a second child (their first is still under 5). I am SOOO incredibly happy for them BUT I am also so incredibly jealous and a little sad that my journey to parenthood hasn't been as easy as theirs. Does this make me a bad person? Why Why Why should I feel anything but overwhelming joy for them? emoticon

You are SOOOO not a bad person for feeling that way. I have a good friend in a similar situation as you. Your day will come as will hers. Keep the faith.

No it does not make you a bad person. It makes you a human. And jealousy of them translates to frustration with the adoption process. It's fast paced for some and like a snail for others and I'll never understand why.

But it doesn't make you a bad person. It makes you a good woman who's happy for her friends and frustrated with her own situation. And that is normal.

We understand, and we share your frustration. You have so much love to give. I'm very lucky to be one of the recipients ;) emoticon emoticon

Why? Because, my dear friend, you are human. You will put on a happy face when you are with your friends, you will genuinely feel affection for their child, and you will hide your tears or share them with your husband. And you will get through this. God has plans for you. I pray for your peace and comfort. emoticon

I wish everyone wanted their chidren like you want one. I would sleep better at night knowing that they are so loved.

The feelings that you're feeling are NORMAL. I have a dear friend and a co-worker going through similar situations. Don't get hard on yourself, you have every right to feel the way you do.

The only thing you CAN do is just be happy for them but also focus on your own journey and stay POSITIVE about it. Don't give up, keep your head up and remember how blessed you are.

Good things are in store for you. You're not alone in this!
