October Results - November GOALS!

October was a good month for me! I was training for HM#5 which occupied much of my fitness goals which was a good thing. In the eating department I did not start off the month very well especially around HM time when I used a whole week to binge eat and called it "carb" loading...urgh! Sometimes I find that racing especially long distances are a distraction from cleaning up bad eating habits. Anyhow, I have been back on track which is a good thing. Trying to limit my sugar. I even succeeded on Halloween night which is a good thing...although with the amount of candy currently in my house, no promises for this weekend on that one.

Anyhow, November is my birthday month which means I really need to step it up a notch, plus Thanksgiving too which means fam time and time OFF of work. I do want to make sure that I use that time to be productive whether it be fun activities or just general housekeeping items, there is nothing more than having a lazy day on a day off and feeling like crap after that because I did not do more. Not this time around, I plan on making this month count!

Anyhow, here are the results for October...

#1 - PR Half Marathon on 10/21 - There I said it! Completely possible as this course is FLAT and known to be a big race for people looking to Boston Qualify! - DONE

#2 - LOOK up, RESEARCH and finally DO a strength training routine - I am starting to be really good about doing weights at the gym but I have no idea of what I am actually doing out there. - PFFFFF, completely avoided...ridiculous, I looked up a plan on and I made the executive decision that I don't like lifting weights. I have been incorporating strength training into my gym workouts though...I swear!

#3 - Clean up my Fridays - no more eating out for lunch (if so salad) and when I get home I need to stick with the diet plan! - Eh, good except for ONE Friday

#4 - No meat for the month of October - I feel so much better when I don't have it, seafood is ok - YUP, DONE, hard too!

#5 - Book another race immediately after HM - so I do not become complacent - UH, to date, nope, in my defense I have tried, I swear but these kids with their d@mn indoor soccer now are truly messing this up, I tried two times to register for 5Ks and each time something conflicted

#6 - Fun October Stuff a) haunted house b) pumpkin patch c) carve pumpkins - ALL DONE!! Yup, a, b, c

#7 - Two new healthy recipes, I will eat it if I cook it - YUP, a chilli that I found in the Scott Jurek vegetarian book and a fish dish

#8 - Redo DS#1's bedroom, requires online shopping and the one thing that I hate, painting - HALF way there, room is painted, bed set is in, decals are on the way and curtains too

Now onto November here goes...

#1. Complete 2 races of any distances this month

#2. Go to a museum on my birthday

#3. Dictate what I want to do on my birthday so I will not be disappointed with DH's hair brained schemes

#4. Thanksgiving craft

#5. Start Christmas shopping THIS month

#6. Write weekly blogs about goal progress

#7. Find at least two new running routes

#8. Go see some type of show, comedy, play etc

#9. Get mileage back up to at least 10M by month end

#10. Track fitness on Spark for the month

    Awesome work in October & Great Plans for November.

    As for you not liking lifting weights....have you tried alternatives?? Like Bands, Bosu Ball, Kettle Bells??? There is some fun ST exersises that can be done with them.

    I sign up for races too so I have an objective and I don't come up with excuses for skipping the gym/ a run... Even the virtual race on Spark is a great source of motivation for me!
    I love your goal #7... I much prefer running outside, the weather is not so good now, but that should not be an excuse! I should include that goal in my November goal list! (thanks for the tip!)

    Have fun at the museum and all the prep for Thanksgiving... Looking forward reading your blogs...
