Thursday, after Hurricane Sandy

Thursday, November 01, 2012

Just an update to last blog.

Our power is back on since last evening. Which is ironic because my DH has been scrambling looking for a generator, which we both agree to buy one after last year Halloween storm, since last Wednesday. Yet everywhere he went they were out of stock. Well, to be more precise out of stock of the particular unit he was recommended to buy for our needs. So what is the ironic about this? DH finally got a small one yesterday late afternoon. By the time it was hook up it was only in use for several hours before the power went back on.

I said it does not matter because we needed one anyhow...but he, disappointed, is a man who wanted a much bigger one. Men (big boys, I mean babies) always want bigger tools, anything electronic must be big! You should all see the giant 1980's speakers we have in the basement. emoticon

I hope all of you are doing well.

I don't think life in NY will quite be the same for the next couple of months.

So sorry that things hit so hard up in NY and surrounds. So glad you are safe and have power and also a family that pulls together to get what is needed... and you have enough humor to laugh at the ironies. Do take care of yourselves and keep laughing.

No, I agree that life may be VERY different for a while in several states. I was VERY lucky and VERY blessed. I live in WV and while there was a LITTLE (1/2 inch or so) snow at my place, I never lost phone, only lost power for about 3 minutes, and only lost Internet for about 36 hours. Only half a mile down the road they had significant snow and half hour away they had a blizzard. My relatives live in New Jersey and Maryland and were hit MUCH harder. At least in the Northeast, they are TRYING to get things straightened out quickly as possible, but it will take a while.
