Yay! It's my favorite holiday of the year! Both the commercial side and the spiritual side of it. We took our 2 yo trick or treating tonight despite the rain and cold. She had a blast! She was our little zombie this year. Elora stayed at my mom and dad's. Far too bad out for an 11 mo! Plus, I messed up on her costume://She was supposed to be a ghost. Instead she looked like she had a hooker skirt on. I am still a novice when it comes to sewing and had technical difficulties with my machine. It kept eating the fabric. I *think* something is wrong with the bobbin. Either that or I'm using the wrong needle. Honestly I have no idea and no one to ask. My mom has enough skills with a needle to sew a button back on. My gramma was the sewer/quilter/knitter in the family. She has been gone 10 years now.
That's one of the reasons why I love Samhain so much. The vail between the living and those that have passed is thin. It is our time to honor our loved ones and for them to let us know they are still watching over us. My parents live in the house my grandparents built. My gramma lived there until the day she died. She has let us all know she's there in her own little way. My mom hasn't been well. Gramma came to her the other day. Mom said she was just sitting there and looked up to see Gramma walk passed. It really cheered Mom up.
Whether you follow the Pagan path or not, I offer you a blessed be! Be good to each other and light a candle for those you hold dear to you. They are never truly far away!
