First time ever!

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

I always carve my pumpkin on Halloween so it is fresh for the kiddies but this year I have no pumpkin. We normally have a pumkpin for each of our kids. I don't know what happened, but I forgot to buy a pumpkin this year. By the time I went out to buy one I could not find one (okay so I gave up after visiting 5 stores). So this year we are pumpkinless...................
! First time ever!

How about you? Will you have a jack-o-lantern this year?

I have an extra one that I never got around to carving. But it looks good on the porch.

I have a ceramic one with a lightbulb inside, plug it into the porch outlet every year. My that was exhausting!

I haven't carved a pumpkin in years, but I do get a pumpkin. Instead of carving it, I cut it up, cook it until tender and add a little margarine and cinnamon. This year I splurged and added a spoonful of brown sugar.

You aren't alone-my DH does the craving & because of the subways were down he ended up walking home-quite the hike. By the time he arrived home there wasn't time. I'm not complaining-just saying.

We are visiting our kids and thought they would have one for our 3 year old grandson. But they hadn't gotten one. So we too went to 4 stores and no pumpkin. Then decided that our 3 year old grandson had no clue about a pumpkin and we were the only ones sad.

We didn't do jack-o-lanterns this year either. Our kids are 13 and 17 and have deemed this "not cool" so we just didn't do them. First time in 17 years we haven't had any.

So sad but you're not alone. After all the craziness these days lately have kept us so busy we also forgot about the pumkin carving!! I hope we can get to it next year early and don't forget. It's some fun to do with children. Maybe we're carve a potatoe or something lol and paint/color it orange. =)
