What ?? Am I really "a tiny thing?"

Sunday, October 28, 2012

I was at a Baby Shower yesterday with people who do not know me. A lady and I were sharing twin pregnancy histories. I told her that my twins were 9 lb. 2 oz and 9 lb 4 oz babies. She commented.."I don't see how you could have carried those big babies. You are such a tiny thing."
Well..in my entire life now one has ever called me a tiny thing. I have been told I was plump, fat, big boned, large framed, and had a pretty face.

The funny thing is that she did not know that I gained 60 pounds with those twins and I was not tiny while carrying them!

I consider myself thin and normal. I am happy with the way I look. It did amuse me.

I had my sons and they were 10 pounds and the oldest will be 50 next year. Young one is going to be 41. My daughter was 7 pounds she was my smallest. She is now 46.

Since I turned the age my son will be. It was a real battle of weight to come on. I guess the pre of menopause. Now that I am 71.

I also am being called big boned. I dislike that to be branded. I am 5 6 inches so I am tall. . I have small wrists and not big ankles.

And my face is not overly fat but they still call me big boned. When I got ill 6 years ago. I loss 30 pounds. For the first time since I turned 50. Nurse said. Oh you are little lady we have here .Will have to see if we can find a tiny gown for you. I was like that for 2 years tiny. I was dignoised as Celiac. Even though I was ill. I could of given that nurse a high 5. She made my day.

Now through getting some fat on me. I am on my journey again to be slim and be called
tiny like you. Only the healthy way not the sick way.

Good for you . You did it. Alot of hard work. You are for sure an Inspiration to all now.
    I applaud you.

A well deserved compliment. They don't know how hard you (we) work at maintenance!!!!
I had single pregnancies and gained over 60 lbs with each of them. That was great with 9 lb twins. You gave them the gift of health.
I'm a twin and my mom was so vain (in the 1950's) that she gained 12 lbs with us. I was 4.5 lbs. and my brother was 5 lbs. She's still that selfish!
You have worked hard to be a fabulous, fit woman, mom, wife, and teacher.
Congratulations on achieving happiness and self confidence.

OH....the "tiny story"! I'm so glad you had a good inner smile. I love meeting people for the first time & especially when I'm in the middle of managing my eating or drinking when we meet. My funniest stories are when I say "no thank you" to dessert & all eyes turn towards me....rather like watching a tennis game. Then, come the comments, etc. Goodness...how many people like to get involved in someone's choices...& especially when they don't know you. I used to get involved in the discussion, but now I just smile & say "it's a secret" or "I'll never tell" or some other nonsense comment that I love to make up. OK TINY GIRL....

That's a great title to have - embrace it! But 9 lb babies are big even for a not so tiny thing. Whew!

Good for you! It takes a while to learn to say 'thank you' when someone calls you tiny. I can relate as one of my curling teamates was quite surprised when I said I'd lost 50 lbs as she'd only known me as a much smaller person. One of my euchre lady friends who have known me for years actually called me a 'skinny bitch' (excuse the language) which I've NEVER been called before.

The first time someone accused me of having a "tiny little body", I thought I would die laughing. Like you, I had history... when they did I was 100 pounds under my max. And it has taken me a while to accept that indeed, I *do* have a tiny little body. I am turning into the little old lady of my dreams.

Third year of maintenance before I'm willing to embrace being small / tiny / slight!

It's always a surprise when interacting with those who don't know the history. Good for you... embrace the amusement, and eventually, embrace the acceptance. Tiny, yes, but powerful! emoticon emoticon

It's funny people meeting us for the first time, can't seem to to gather an image of us, before SP ! I get funny reactions as well to people when they find out I have lost 150 lbs! Got to love honest real reactions !
