Travel~Breaking Stereotypes

Saturday, October 27, 2012

I am not a frequent traveler, not due to lack of desire, but due to circumstances and money. However, when I have the opportunity to visit some place new, I enjoy keeping my mind, my heart, and my eyes wide open............as well as my camera lens. I love the fact that stereotypes are broken!

New York City and Brooklyn were my destinations. I reveled in chatting with the people who worked and lived in this amazing city and the surrounding boroughs. My aunt and I were celebrating our 60th and 80th birthdays. We loved the people we met at every corner, shop, subway, park, site, restaurant, and hotel. They were open, funny, cheerful, helpful, honest, and hard working. The city is dense with people who move seamlessly through their day.

I'm sharing some of my photos..........not to bore you, but to share my joy.

I am glad to be home in my quiet little existence, but the big city couldn't have been more friendly.

Thank you for letting me share, Spark friends!!!

Now back to life in my "little ol' town".

Wow, great pictures and your new background is beautiful too!

We've always found people to be exceedingly friendly and helpful everywhere we've ever been. I too am delighted to be able to "break stereotypes!" Even when we were on our own in Moscow and St. Petersburg Russia, people were so happy to answer questions and help us find our way!

I'm so glad you both had such a wonderful time -- what took you ALL THE WAY to the other coast? I'm sure there's a story there!

Love your pictures. What a wonderful way for you and your Aunt to celebrate your special birthdays. I too enjoy talking with people whenever we travel and in every locale have found them delightful as well. I also have found that no matter how much I enjoyed the trip, truly, "be it ever so humble, there is no place like home!" Welcome back!

That was so fun celebrating your 60th and 80th birthdays together. Welcome to the 60s..I am already there.

I love your pictures. We lived in NYC years ago. I found New Yorkers to be friendly and fun..a very diverse place.

Traveling is fun, but it is nice to get back home!!!

    Glad your trip went well.

I have done a couple of these humble trips and they were more fun because I wasn't exhausted with sightseeing. Just driving up to Vermont for an overnight and eating at a diner was restful, and a day spent away from home makes home more treasured. i have so many photos of things that no one else would recognize as vacation highlights.
