what a day

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Started off with a new norm since my daughter's car was totalled. I had to get up early and drive her to work-she has to open the store at 7am and we have to drive by the NAS Jax gates to get there-not much fun at that time of day. Then back home to my breakfast and newspaper before going to work out. Shortly after that it ceased to be normal with a text message and e-mail from my sister that mom is in the hospital. Still don't know what's wrong-she was very lethargic, talking nonsense, no paralysis but her blood pressure was high. Tests have been pretty normal-ct scan & ekg, still waiting to hear on the mri and the colon tests. She did have colon cancer several years ago which was successfully removed with no sign of spreading and tests since then have shown her cancer free. They were also worried about a severe infection-possibly uti or bladder as she gets those a lot and always has. I guess she is sometimes able to answer questons correctly such as her birthdate but a few minutes later can't remember. My 3 brothers and sisters are there with her in Nebraska while I am here in Florida where I am in charge of my grandkids and recently that includes all weekend when both mom and dad are working but other than sitting with my siblings I really don't know what I could do up there. I've been looking for tickets recently hoping to get back there in the next month or two so maybe I can luck into some soon! I keep saying I don't get to see my parents enough since they are both in their upper 80's. I will keep looking for my sister's messages and maybe one of these days Larry and I will get in the car and drive up there for a week or so.

Kerry, My heart goes out to you and YOUR FAMILY, as well as the prayers, I am sending to you! I honestly HAVE BEEN where you are, in this matter. Hubby and I had both families here in MA, while we lived in ARkansas, for nearly 8 years.

During that time, we traveled by car, and plane, sometimes BACK TO BACK, as we would arrive back home, only to get a CALL that one or the other Mother became ill. Our siblings were in MAssachusetts, but we tried to take "turns" to CARE for our Mothers. So yes, I do understand, your feelings, pain, and emotional distress.

One thing I learned....YOU are ONE PERSON! You CAN DO SOMETHINGS, but "trying to do everything" which I know, how I felt, and wanted to do, only made things even MORE DIFFICULT! Take ONE DAY AT A TIME, Do what you CAN, if you are ABLE TO GET TICKETS, fine! But if not, do NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP, like I said before...."DO WHAT YOU CAN DO, ACCEPT WHAT YOU CAN NOT, and KNOW with your HEART, that you have done YOUR BEST!

Hugs, prayers, and love to you are your family,

Kerry I am sorry that you are going through so much. You probably can't do anything being in Nebraska but you might feel better if you can manage to get there.

I'm sure it is so stressful. We are all here for you.
