Improve Your Mood with This 2-Minute Exercise"

Monday, October 22, 2012

I just read the dailySpark Entry "Improve Your Mood with This 2-Minute Exercise." I thought : 2 minutes I can do that. What I didn't anticipate was that this was an emotional exercise.
As work has been rather stressful lately, I realized that I've been on a bit of a grump binge when it comes to work. The article suggests listing 2-3 things that I'm grateful for. While I have plenty of gratefulness when it comes to home and family life, work is another situation.

Too many students, too many students with problems, too many deaths recently ( we lost a science teacher on Friday to cancer. Her battle was shockingly short.) Too many preps(4). Just a lot of work and not a lot of joy.

So...I am grateful to have a job in a field that I love. I am absolutely grateful for my 6th bell. Their enthusiasm is boundless. I am grateful for my dear department colleagues. We've been a great team for 14 years.

Tomorrow when I go to work- I will keep these in mind. Perhaps I can find a few more.

Thanks for this blog! I needed this reminder right now. I work for a school district that is in a terrible financial crisis and under investigation. Lots of stress!

I work for a department in the central office. One of my supervisors (I have two) is leaving for another job next week so my work load is doubling and my pay is decreasing because of furlough days.

Three things I am grateful for:
That I actually have a job (I was laid off for 14 months and then hired back a year ago)
Working with people who are like a family to me (I work in a very small department)
For the most part I enjoy my job and don't mind coming to work everyday.

I will try and remember these joys on a daily basis! Thanks for reminding us that we need to be grateful for everything in our lives, especially our jobs.

I struggle with the same thing, I hate being tied to a schedule so strictly and would gladly work the same number of hours/week, but just the hours I choose! I am extremely grateful that I have a huge number of friends and a great support system where I work, and that they pay for our memberships to Weight Watchers for us, that's where all this started for me, and I feel wonderful after loosing so much weight and taking up an exercise progrem (at my workplace free gym!!)

Thanks for reminding me of that !!!

Gratitude is a wonderful thing to focus on! If you listen to your own gratitude, it becomes louder and spreads and can affect how others feel around you! Thanks for reminding me :)
