Ran my 10th race this year yesterday. It was a beautiful fall day in New England, around 60 degrees but felt cooler due to the wind. I was having a hard time deciding whether to leave my long sleeve pull over on or not. I decided to take it off and I was glad I did, I warmed up pretty quickly. I started off great completing the first mile in 10:11. I was keeping pace with a woman who had the same colors on as me and then I slowed up to grab a water and she pulled away from me. I tried hard to keep pace and try to close the distance, but I wasn't able to do it. Second mile I clocked in 21:21, so I had slowed to 11 minutes. I think I would have done better if I didn't slow up for the water, I would have kept pace with that woman and my time would have been better. Mile 3 was 32:30, I was pretty happy with my overall time of 34:00 even and that is right around what I have been running all year. I think I should invest in one of the small hand held water bottles with the strap. Next race is in November, I plan to start running intervals to see if I can improve my time.
