Tips for Buying the Right Bicycle

I did not realize that there were so many types of bikes. They vary by purpose (exercise, racing, leisurely rides, trail or road/street), type (mountain, trail, comfort, touring, hybrid, dirt), and type of frame (steel, aluminum, carbon, titanium), but the most important is the frame size and style. It needs to fit your body properly. Bike stores give the best selection and fit. A decent bike will cost anywhere from $150 and up – and could cost thousands of dollars, depending on what you are looking for. I agree with the comments that the article left out a lot. They should have included recumbent bikes, info on helmets, and should have stressed buying a bike at a bike shop due to the higher knowledge of the sales staff.

It really is complex isn't it. Not as easy as going to Walmart and picking one up LOL!

Good wisdom ;) I bought a Schwinn several years ago & love it but my butt hurt! So I got a gel seat. Still gets sore! I need a padded tractor seat. Then I'll be happy! Lol
